Valeria
"Refuses to stop. Accepts the cost."
Recruited young into the Krasnaya Osa (Red Wasp) program, a covert program using female operatives for deep cover espionage, intelligence extraction, and assassination. She ran operations across eleven years. Targets in six countries.
When the program's deletion protocol (high-voltage electrocution) was administered, it did not kill her. It restructured her biology's relationship to electrical charge and thermal energy. She came through it with the ability to generate plasma. She did not leave immediately. She took the time she needed. Then she left. She is officially dead in three intelligence databases.
Valeria is the name she chose to give the Ghost Wardens. It may be her birth name. She is the only one who knows. She has no last name because last names are a form of belonging and she belongs to nothing and no one. This is not a wound. It is a deliberate, protected choice. She gave the Ghost Wardens "Valeria." That is more than she has given anyone since the program took her.
Superheats the air around her into focused plasma. Temperatures exceed any known combustion. Not fire. Plasma. Ionized. White-hot. Manipulates volume, shape, density, and direction. Effective range: close to mid. Line of sight not required.
Exceeding threshold causes temporary vision loss. Damage is cumulative. Permanent blindness is inevitable. She knows the trajectory. She keeps deploying. She has not told the team the full prognosis. Override suspects. Override has said nothing.
Self-interest is not simple greed. It is a comprehensive personal philosophy. She delivers what she agrees to deliver. She does not agree to more than she intends to honor. Her alignment is provisional. She can leave. She has not left. The tension between these two facts is her entire character.
When Cormorant contacted her after Port Sulphur, she submitted a contract with seventeen amendments. Signed a modified version. Has not fully honored amendment nine. Everyone knows this.
